Candidates for President
Chip Clark
It has been an absolute honor to represent our LRBOA members for the past 3 years (2 as Board Member At-Large & 1 as Interim President), and I am humbly asking you to consider voting for me to be your President for a 1 Year Term.
About me:
•I am Husband to my beautiful & brilliant wife, Sarah, and Father to our outgoing & big-hearted 12yr old son, Camden. They are my world, and I am beyond blessed that they are so supportive of me pursuing my goals in officiating, as well as serving the members of LRBOA in this capacity.
•I have been a basketball official for 6 full seasons (all with LRBOA), and have completed 3 seasons as a Men’s Basketball Official in the Florida JuCo conferences & 2 seasons in the NAIA Sun Conference. I have much more work to do before achieving my goal of becoming a NCAA D1 Men’s Basketball Official, so I set aside time daily to the pursuit of that goal.
•Statistician for the Orlando Magic & Lakeland Magic
Basketball is a huge passion of mine, but I also have a great passion for people, and for serving others. I care deeply for LRBOA & it’s members, and want to see our association climb to greater heights. I believe my positive attitude, professionalism, optimism, honesty, availability, responsiveness, fresh ideas, and willingness to help you, listen to you, & advocate for you makes me a candidate that you can be proud of. Stepping in as Interim LRBOA President this past Fall came with its share of challenges. I’d love to tell you that I met those challenges with ease, but I feel as if there is certainly room for improvement, on my part. If elected, I will continue to work hard to advance LRBOA, learn from my mistakes, encourage collaboration, promote an environment of personal accountability, and strengthen our relationships with key local/state HS Basketball stakeholder’s. Thank you all for your consideration. I’d very much appreciate the opportunity to continue serving you as LRBOA President for one more year..
John Akins
