Policies and Procedures
(2021-22)

1.     Registration Dues, Administrative Fees, and Fines: LRBOA Registration Dues are $60 for all members. Dues will be deducted from member’s first check if not paid in advance

2.     All LRBOA members are required to attend LRBOA Meetings. Meeting Credit will only be given for working LRBOA assigned contests and/or working FHSAA Sanctioned post season contests. 

3.     All LRBOA members are required to register with the FHSAA. If you are not registered with the FHSAA, you will not be assigned games through LRBOA. 

4.     Each official must complete the Criminal History Background and Fingerprinting Check as required by the Jessica Lunsford Act and the FHSAA. No official will be assigned any games without completing this requirement. 

5.     All new members who join LRBOA after 10/1 that have met all the requirements of another recognized local association will receive privileges of membership of the LRBOA (documentation from association will be required). 

6.     The assigned referee (R) will be responsible for contacting, by email, calling, or text, the umpire(s) at least 72 hours prior to game time. If the referee has been unable to contact an umpire 24 hours prior to game time, then the R shall call the Booking Commissioner. If an umpire has not been contacted within 24 hours of the scheduled game time by the R, the umpire shall call the R. If the R does not respond within 12 hours, then the umpire shall call the Booking Commissioner. The Booking Commissioner will make one call to the R and give the official 1 hour to respond. If there is no response, then the official will be replaced. If this policy is not used and there is a no-show, then the R and the no- show official will both be fined a no-show fee. If you are a fill-in on a game, you are to contact your partners immediately (the Booking Commissioner will inform you of your partners). 

7.     All members shall wear the “approved vendor” supplied FHSAA Logo gray V-neck shirts, black pants, black socks, and predominantly black shoes for all contests. All crews must wear matching shirts.

8.     There is NO WORK ALONE POLICY for any contest assigned by LRBOA regardless of the level contest. There will be no less than TWO officials working any assigned contest. If a situation occurs where there’s only one official and the game has been delayed due to no official being present, then the present official is required FIRST to IMMEDIATELY contact the Booking Commissioner’s for directions on how to proceed. If the present official is unable to reach the Booking Commissioner’s, they shall then consult with the Host School Administrator in regard to suspending or rescheduling the game.

9.     The following guidelines have been established for consideration for playoff assignments (State series beginning with District tournaments): LRBOA members must be in good standing for playoff consideration. To be considered for any/all Playoff Crews members must have satisfied the FHSAA minimum requirements. If selected for a State semi-final or final game, member will be removed from consideration for crew #1 and #2 for the following year in the same gender, unless selected by the FHSAA staff to work. To be considered for crews #1 and #2, members must work a minimum of 20 Varsity games by the third Saturday in January, score a 90 or better on FHSAA test, achieve at least 8 of 10 FHSAA proficiency points, have a minimum LRBOA ranking of 200, and in good standing with LRBOA and FHSAA.

10. Late, No-show, and Late – After Tip policies: 

Late: defined as arriving or not checking in with game management less than 20 minutes prior to scheduled tip-off. The late official has the right to work if he/she is ready before tip-off.

Late (After Tip): defined as not arriving or checking in with game management until after the opening tip. 

No-show: Defined as not showing up for a scheduled contest. 

*If you arrive after the opening tip and work the game, you will not be paid the game fee, but will not be fined. 

*The R official is totally responsible for reporting any and all violations, including their own. 

Administrative fees will be deducted from payroll payments and are as follows: 

LATE: $15 PER OCCURRENCE 

LATE (After Tip): GAME FEE 

NO-SHOW: $60 FOR THE FIRST OCCURRENCE

$100 FOR THE SECOND OCCURRENCE 

SUSPENSION FOR THE THIRD OCCURRENCE

TURNED BACK GAMES: $15 PER OCCURRENCE

Turn back games are defined as: 1) games declined after the schedule has been posted; 2) games not accepted after receiving the schedule and: 3) games turned back after initially accepting said games. 

Any official not returning a signed Policies and Procedures form in its entirety at the beginning of the season will not be assigned any games until doing so. 

NOTE: All policies and procedures of the LRBOA apply to ALL members.
